RFQ Checklist

pressure reducing valve installation

Resolve installation and adjustment decisions before selecting a supplier quotation. Water Pressure Reducing Valve Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. This checklist does not certify a layout, a potable-water approval, or a steam-station design. Decide whether the purchase is a valve only or a station with strainers, sensing lines and downstream protection. Decide how pressure reducing valve adjustment will be accessed after the pipe is live. Published installation sketches from manufacturers are comparison references, not a site-specific drawing for your header.

Document comparison: Equipment scope

Compare drawings and datasheets on connection, orientation, union ends, sensing-line take-off and strainer position. For pressure reducing valve installation, confirm overhead and side access for spring adjustment, and whether isolation valves are buyer-furnished. Working pressure and flow rate on the sheet must match the RFQ points. A steam station needs drainage and separator notes that a water valve sheet will not contain. Hydraulic-oil sheets need seal lists. Read access and interface notes before treating a union connection as a complete install package.

Price exclusions

Pipe supports, insulation, expansion vessels, relief valves, commissioning labour and training are often outside the valve price. Freight, packing, FAT witness and SAT follow the manufacturer reply. No website figure claims a lower installed cost than unnamed alternatives. Connected load, three-phase supply and compressed air demand appear only for powered accessories. Cooling water is a steam-station utility, not a default water-valve need. Spare parts for diaphragms, seats and pilots should be a numbered line if you want them with the order.

Response basis

Response basis is a written installation boundary: who mounts the valve, who pipes the sensing line, who sets the downstream pressure, and which gauges are used at SAT. Validated output means recorded upstream and downstream pressures at agreed flows, not a factory sticker. Duty cycle and start-up condensate matter for steam. Changeover of setpoint should name whether a different spring is supplied. See flow points and station duty.

Remaining input: local code reviews, potable-water listings for a named jurisdiction, and lockout access for adjustment remain with the buyer’s engineer. Water Pressure Reducing Valve Sourcing compares documents; it does not stamp an installation. Footprint and work envelope still belong on the checklist so sensing lines are not trapped against a wall.
